Barbarella BARKUS Queen XXVII

Queen Barbarella Ashe-Roche, is the daughter of Lorelei Ashe and Tom Roche of New Orleans, who adopted her from Zeus Place. Her name was “Pixie” in those days, but her parents knew that this moniker would not do for a creature with such a fierce and powerful spirit. They decided that “Barbarella” embodied her determined essence and was a better fit for her future of adventure.

Queen Barbarella’s geographic impact stretches across various neighborhoods in the city, from the Warehouse District to Lake Vista, where she currently resides in a royal state of her own making. She is the self-appointed boss-queen of five men in her household court, and her rules rule her castle. Her sidekick, a Golden Doodle named Beau, is at her beck-and-call and always at her side. The only player who refuses to join her court is the family cat, and the Queen brushes this off with shade, blaming it on the feline condition that seems sadly unavoidable. “It is a shame that our court cat is so defiant, so catty. The loss is not mine. Just ask Beau,” said Queen Barbarella.

Her Majesty often spends her days working with her mother or father, where she can assist them in making sound, professional decisions, even without experience ever holding a tax-paying job. “My professional abilities are just instinct. I can smell success,” says Queen Barbarella.

One of her preferred places of work is the Elms Mansion on St. Charles Avenue with her father, where she oversees the planning and hosting of many elegant soirees suited to the Elms. This will serve her well as she prepares for numerous occasions honoring the Queen of Barkus, including the traditional Royal Lunch at Galatoire’s Restaurant and her Coronation Ball at the Windsor Court Hotel.

Queen Barbarella’s refined taste and sophisticated appreciation of all things classy will extend to her Royal wardrobe, which will be created by Autumn Adamme, owner of Dark Garden, who has dressed J Lo, Christine Aguilera and Dita von Teese. The Queen’s clothier is certain to create show-stopping ensembles that will make canine fashion history.

While Queen Barbarella is still finalizing her official Royal platform, it is certain to focus on adopting homeless pets, as she knows this was how her forever family luckily found her. This year different because of the pandemic, but wants to help raise money for Barkus virtually. Beyond the Mardi Gras season, Queen Barbarella is considering writing a self-help book of hope entitled "Feisty to Refined: Being A Barking Barbarella."
