New Orleans, LA (1-10-19) -- Mystic Krewe of Barkus, the only officially licensed Mardi Gras Krewe for canines, will bring together the largest convention of dog nerds and associated extroverts to the theme "The Big Bark Theory: Barkus Goes to Comic Con" while taking to the streets of French Quarter on Sunday, February 24, 2019 at 2pm.
Whether intellectually gifted, socially awkward or super hero street smart, all types are welcome to join in the revelry. Although many will certainly bring their A+ game that day, others non-academic geek varieties of canines can come as they are to add to the fun and revelry known as the Krewe of Barkus parade.
Dogs who want to be members of the krewe and lack access to the internet should get their humans to register on line at www.barkus.org. On parade day, there is pre-pawty parade and post-pawty parade at Armstrong Park from 10:30am to 5:30pm. The parade starts promptly at 2pm and follows a 15-block route through the Vieux Carré, stopping at the VIP Reviewing Stand at Good Friends Bar, corner Dauphine and St. Ann, where VIPs will toast the Royal Court. Curious observers are welcome to come watch the parade.
All proceeds from Barkus, a non-profit organization founded by Wood Enterprises, benefit animal organizations in New Orleans and the Gulf South area. For more information, visit www.barkus.org or e-mail info@barkus.org.
EQUALITY DISCLAIMER: All dogs are eligible for various levels of membership without regard to their social, educational or family backgrounds. All colors, coat types, tail sizes and body mixes accepted. Cosmetically and non-cosmetically challenged dogs are welcome. Bluebloods and previously homeless dogs are encouraged to participate.
