Meet Our Dukes

Duke Andy has been through obedience training at PetCo and has also been trained and certified as a Therapy Dog through Therapy Dog International. Duke Andy has been visiting Nursing Homes in Dubuque, Iowa since 2012. When he moved to Louisiana in the summer of 2014 he began regularly visiting nursing homes on the North Shore area of Lake Pontchartrain.

Duke Milo, a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, will be traveling from Baton Rouge to make his grand debut as Barkus royalty. He's a dashingly handsome 8-year-old certified pet touch therapy dog who spends most of his Saturdays bringing smiles to the capital city's nursing home and rehabilitation center residents.  When he's not being gushed over at the old folk's home, he's been known to circulate the LSU campus as an ambassador for the mental health organizations.

During his downtime, you'll find Milo in the kitchen where he happily holds the title of CTT (Chief Taste Tester) for his mom's cookbooks or strolling through the neighborhood with his beloved emoji or donut; he never leaves home without them. Milo can't wait to meet everyone and show off his special Mardi Gras emoji beads! You can follow him on Instagram @MiloandEmoji.

All Hail, Duke Milo!

Buddy is a basset hound that was adopted from the SPCA Animal Shelter in Fluvanna County, Virginia, back in 2013. At nearly 13 years old, he’s enjoying his senior years with lots of cuddles, snacks & naps. He’s still got plenty of pep to play with his little brother, Channy, and go on outings with his Mommy. He loves making friends and making people smile. Buddy celebrates Mardi Gras
every year with his annual ride around the yard in a decorated wagon.

You can follow him on Facebook: Buddy the Basset and Friends.

All Hail, Duke Buddy!

Duke Sammy originates from Florida. He was found by his mommy roaming the streets of Miami. He moved to New Orleans in the summer of 2017. He enjoys walking, barking and napping. His favorite day of the week is any day he can relax on the couch and eat “chicken on the stick” with his mejor amigo.
He is extremely excited for his second year as a duke in the Mystic Krewe of Barkus.

All Hail, Duke Sammy!

Duke Dobby began his education on the streets. Then, once adopted from the Louisiana SPCA by his loving family, he received a private education by a trainer where he learned basic commands. He now receives continuous education from his four legged adopted “mom”. Duke Dobby enjoys snuggling with his humans and playing tug of war and chase with his canine “mama”. He also enjoys carrying his toys on his head and his back. He loves to go on walks where he gets to meet new people and make new friends. Dobby especially loves to sing along when his human brothers play the violin or piano!
The streets were not the kindest to Dobby and he is continuously trying to grow back his hair. No big deal for Dobby, though, because he is loved and handsome nonetheless.

All Hail, Duke Dobby!
