Meet the 2022 Grand Marshal Pete Sampras Gelderman
Grand Marshal Pete Sampras Gelderman is a four-year-old silver lab, who is the son of Carroll Gelderman of New Orleans and brother of former Barkus Queen Honey Gelderman and King Banjo Gelderman. His noble and sophisticated GQ style does not reflect the start of his life on a chicken farm in the country. Although details are murky, it seems that he spent most of his time chasing the chickens, which resulted in his eviction from the property. This was a blessing in disguise as it lead to his adoption by his mother, who was a perfect match for Grand Marshal Pete.
He moved to the city and found employment at the Garden District Book Shop, which is owned by his mother. He is naturally friendly, so his career there as the head of the customer greeting department suits him well. Grand Marshal Pete loves tennis balls, chicken meatballs, and his sister Billie Jean King. He looks forward to serving on the royal court of Barkus and plans to write a book one day about his journey from a failed farmhand to Mardi Gras Royalty.
