🎉 The wait is over! Our 2027 theme is Dolly Pawton Barkin' 9 to 5.
Artist Matt Rinard has outdone himself again with this year’s poster. ☕️ Tumble outta bed and pour yourself a cup of ambition, because the Quarter is about to get a whole lot of working dogs and Dolly. 🐶 Get to work on those costumes and floats. It’s gonna be a howlin’ good time!
All tail types are welcome, and any color coat is acceptable, but we especially celebrate those who come to be a commotion (not cause one) during the revelry on Sunday, January 31st, 2027, at 1PM in the French Quarter.
Dogs who want to be members of the Krewe should get their humans to register online at www.kreweofbarkus.org. On parade day, we will be staging the parade, pre-pawty parade, and post-pawty parade at Armstrong Park starting at 10:30 am. The parade starts promptly at 1PM and follows a 15-block route through the Vieux Carré, stopping at the VIP Reviewing Stand at Good Friends Bar, corner Dauphine and St. Ann, where VIPs (and those who desire to be VIPs) will toast the Royal Court. Curious observers are welcome to come watch the parade.
All proceeds from Barkus, a non-profit organization founded by Wood Enterprises, benefit animal organizations in New Orleans and the Gulf South area. For more information, visit www.kreweofbarkus.org or e-mail info@kreweofbarkus.org.
EQUALITY DISCLAIMER: All dogs are eligible for various levels of membership without regard to their social, educational, or family backgrounds. All colors, coat types, tail sizes and body mixes accepted. Cosmetically and non-cosmetically challenged dogs are welcome. Bluebloods and previously homeless dogs are encouraged to participate.
The countdown is on for the greatest dog parade on the planet! In the spirit of all in the Barkus dogdom, together we HAIL BARKUS 2027!
