Grand Dame Velvet
Barkus 2025 marks the 11th year of Grand Duchess Velvet's reign in the Barkus Royal Court. Around the palace, the Duchess is known by many names—Velly, Vel-Vel, Kittycat—but she won’t come when called unless food is involved. She fully understands commands like sit, stay, up, and speak but chooses to ignore them unless treats are on the table. As sharp as she is stubborn, her subjects adore her for it.
For the past year, the Duchess has been fighting cancer with courage and determination, facing every challenge like the Grand Dame she is. Now, she is ready to take her rightful place in the spotlight once more and looks forward to parading this Sunday.
